Happiness

'What makes you happy?' the folded newspaper in my hand asks me in big type, presumably to catch my eye. Well, dear reader I was taken aback by such a statement. It hit me at a split-second in my life in which I really did not know the answer or even where to begin. The article suggested things such as films, days in the sun or a drink in the pub. Normally I'd have glanced over such a statement onto the sport, to discover who was winning the matches that really matter in the football. But no, not today. Today I stood there amongst other city-goers, in the drizzle, pondering. How can you quantify happiness? You cannot simply view it such black and white ways which the humble article suggests. No. It's something much more complex than that.
